The Itsy Bitsy Spider went up the water spout...
Down came the rain and washed our office out.
Out came the fans, dehumidifiers, and mold.
And the isty bitsy workers went up work again.
This has been the week of insanity. Or maybe we can call it the month of insanity. Earthquakes, then a hurricane, and then a tropical storm stalled out over us and a flood ensued. And low and behold, even though the stream was not the culprit (the rain and downspouts were), our office flooded.
My coworkers and I tried to keep up with the flood waters (almost 2 inches deep at one point), but we just couldn't stay on top of nearly 5 gallons a minute coming out of the walls and ceilings. Not to mention wanting to be around the office when we realized the water was fast approaching the electrical room.
The building designer is to blame. He apparently didn't like the look of downspouts on the outside of a building, so our downspouts are INTERNAL. That's right. Internal downspouts. With clean-outs. That come undone. And result in water from the roof coming inside. Dumb ass. I would much rather prefer the ugly aesthetics of external downspouts to the ugly-ass aesthetics, smell, noise, and inconvenience of leaky internal downspouts.
My poor cube. :( And the carpet was only two weeks old. So now, I'm upstairs in a temporary cube for who knows how long before I can move back downstairs to my humble abode. I'm sad.
