Hurricane Irene

Hurricane Irene came through this weekend.  And we were very fortunate.  There was a lot of hype prior to the hurricane making her way towards us - how large it was, how slow moving, how much wind and rain.  I must say that I did know that a lot of the talk was hype, especially after having an earthquake just a few days prior, but nonetheless, we made sure the plants were as secure as we could get them and we brought in all the loose stuff.

I must say that the hurricane was much less worse than some of the really bad thunderstorms we have had blow through the area this summer.  I knew some of the Bradford pears would meet their death in the neighborhood, and was aware that there may be trees down at the barn.  However, few trees came down.  The wind was not bad at all.

Our 'damage' was only a outside chair blown away from the table.    Other parts of the east coast did not come through with no damage.  I know we got lucky for sure.
