Thanksgiving is a time of family and sharing, right? This year, we spent a wonderful Thanksgiving at Aunt L’s with the crew. And of course, that means we had tons of delicious food! The normal raucous time was had by all. We laughed, make jokes, poked fun. I’m sure I chased the kids a bit as well. A total normal family get-together…
So after a bit the turkey was ready and we started bringing in the food. Some of the food was stored outside since it was cold (who needs to stuff everything in the fridge when you have the entire back patio table for a fridge? Brrrr!). We started to bring in the beets, and the salads, and all the other fixings that were out there. But, the aluminum foil was askew on the beets and one of the other dishes had a cover astray. We just assumed that the wind was being weird. …until we got to the chocolate pie.
Dun dun dun….
Now, J was quite excited this Thanksgiving because he was going to finally have chocolate pie for dessert. Apparently this is one of his favorite desserts. Gingerbread crust, nice chocolaty filling, a little bit of whipped cream on top… Sounds yummy, doesn’t it?
Apparently, that’s what the squirrel thought, too… Much to J’s horror (although the rest of us couldn’t stop laughing), a squirrel found the chocolate pie. While none of the other dishes were affected, it appeared that the squirrel had a hankering for some sweets!
We found evidence of the apparent theft: the Hole - chewed, of course - in the plastic cover; the Crumbs – last remnants of the gingerbread crust – left on the rim; the Chocolaty Filling – little mouth marks scooped out; and the most compelling evidence, the Dent – obviously made when the furry rodent-caper was sitting its wee butt on the pie, engorging itself on the treat.

Poor J.
J *finally* got to eat his chocolate pie this weekend. And it was quite yummy, without squirrel evidence. Hope that squirrel was watching…!
You can tell who eats chocolate cake - that would be a graham cracker crust..... Just kidding kiddo -- in all fairness to you I don't believe you have ever had a chocolate pie as we normally always had your yummy apple pie or pecan pie. This is a great blog hope to see more from everyone.

Ha! You caught me... I noticed the "graham cracker" words in the picture after the fact. And it's no secret that I do like some pecan pie! Thanks, Mom! Love Ya!
