We are trying to keep our chins up, but man, this sucks! We've been experiencing a rash of car issues ranging from barely non-issues (several lights have been replaced on two vehicles) to the entirely annoying (a rock was throw into Jim's convertible from a bushhog) to the frightening (brake issues on my truck). Toss this on top of the house stand-still and the living in two places and all the other stuff... I guess we just continue to say "That's Life!".
(But enough is enough!)
Jim's car - his baby, the Solstice. He always parks it in the back-40 at stores so that it doesn't get dinged. And he's really particular about keeping the car cover on it when it's not raining. All sort of things like that. At work, he parks it in the corner and keeps the car cover on it. He takes very good care of his vehicles.
Enter in the bushhog. And the huge piece of granite rip-rap (those are the large stones that are placed along the edges of a creek or wash which help to keep the erosion down). Bushhog runs over rip-rap. Rip-rap disintegrates into large chunks. Chunks go flying. A piece about 5 inches long hits solid object. Solid object under the cloth car cover. Cloth rips, fender edge crinkles, paint chips, tire is rubbed. Jim isn't so happy.
Thankfully the company was still on site, and Jim is working with their insurance to fix the car. I failed to mention that in the same week (a few days later) the catalytic converter went out on the Solstice as well. It's been parked for nearly two weeks now. Jim got the new converter last night in the mail - hopefully it can get installed the same time the car is in for repairs. (Finger's crossed!)
And tonight, barring any unfortunate circumstances, I should have new rotors and brakes on my front end. Then maybe my truck won't make nasty, scary grinding noises when I hit the brakes!
I love my Hubby.
