It was a beautiful afternoon, I had all the windows and the sun roof open in my Jeep. We loaded up the Jeep with our tent, sleeping bags, bags, food, and all the normal going away for the weekend stuff. And like the pros we are, we finished 45 minutes earlier than expected. I decided that it wouldn't hurt my feelings any if we spent just a little bit of that extra time at the barn.
We made our goodbyes and got ready to leave. As we were getting into the Jeep, HUGE raindrops started coming down. Oh no! Windows were open! I quickly put the key into the ignition and turned... Nothing happened. I turned the key again. Nothing. Then my door locks went berserk, and my cd player started making weird noises. I quickly went through my mental list... Starter? Alternator? No and no. There was nothing, the engine didn’t even give a dying groan. I knew it had to be the battery. J agreed. My battery had a history of having some corrosion around one of the terminals, so I knew this day was coming. And come it had!
I called to J to get a tarp to throw over the open vehicle (uggh! sun roof!) to keep the rain out. We attempted to jump start the Jeep, knowing it would not work. Thankfully we had two extra vehicles at home, so J ended up getting a new battery for me and installing it while I went to Sniper's hoof appointment using Mom's vehicle.
So we ended up getting on the road about an hour and half later than we were expecting. Like pros, right? All I could do after the fact was laugh at Murphy and be sooo glad it happened at home rather than on the road in the middle of our almost four hour trip!
Here's my new battery...
More on the weekend activities later!
