Super Twink... Diary of a Fat Horse.

I briefly thought about starting another blog.  Then my brain LOL'd (laughed out loud for those not well versed in text-talk) at me.  This proposed second blog would be entirely horse related.  I even thought out a name for it - 'Super Twink, Diary of a Fat Horse'.  But who am I kidding?  I can't even regularly post on my existing blog.  So, the compromise is that I will do horsey things here, and if I find there turns out to be more than a fair share of entries, perhaps I will embark on a journey with a second blog.  Ha ha, right?

So here's a Super Twink entry.

One of Sniper's nicknames is Super Twink.  Way back when, in one of my lessons, my instructor, "S", suggested I sing a song in my head to help with my rhythm in riding.  The first song which popped into my foggy-blond brain was "Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star".  It was simple, it didn't have a whole lot of verses to remember while I was being tortured during my lesson, it was easy to sing, or hum, or gasp out loud.  So around the circle I rode, singing the little nursery rhyme, trotting around and around.  I can only imagine Sniper's thoughts "What the hell is she doing now?  I'm getting dizzy.  Hey!  How about I try to speed up my trotting?  Shit, she won't let me speed up.  Twinkle, twinkle, little...".

It is a running joke between S and myself about the thoughts in Snipe's head.  His face is plenty expressive and he pretty much grumbles under his breath when I ride him and make him do things he thinks he shouldn't.  Like trot in rhythm.  When I started singing, he was like "WTF?!"  (again, that's What The Frick for those who aren't in the know, except frick is a much more colorful word).

In a later lesson, Snipes was being a little bit of a handful (understatement!) and S was like, he's being a twinkie rather than brilliant like a star.  So we started calling him Twinkie when he was being, well, a twinkie.  A few weeks later, he decided to be less of a handful and was actually quite wonderful, so we gave him the moniker of Super Pony for the day.  After a while, the Super Pony and Twinkie have melded together to become Super Twink.  It's a happy moniker - it means he's being awesome.

:)  It's weird how nicknames are created.
