I've been busy the last week. Work has picked up for me big time and has me in the field almost the entire month. It actually caught me unawares and I was ill-prepared for it. However, I made the best of my past weekend (which, coincidentally was also my birthday weekend AND the Fourth of July!). Here's a photo log of my last week.
My coworkers (who are the BEST) decorated my cube at work Friday morning for my BIG 30. I had balloons, confetti (everywhere - in the plants, in my paperwork, on my desk, on the shelves, in books, EVERYWHERE - I love it!), streamers, cardboard cutouts, a princess hat, a blingy necklace, and an ice cream cake! I *heart* my coworkers!
Then on Saturday, Mom requested a loaner truck from Jim and he offered his chainsaw services. We finally got the blasted boxwoods chopped down from in front of the patio. Took a few hours and three loads to the dump, but the front (even though it's empty and bare dirt) looks fantastic!
My riding lesson was moved to Sunday and this is what greeted me when I got to the barn. The barn owner has been getting the fields cut and put up for cows - the view is so pretty. I'm so lucky and fortunate to have found this barn!
During my lesson, one of the other boarders showed up and rode her gray horse, Dublin, on the trails. When we were both done, the boys, who really get along well, hung out begging for cookies.
And they even had a nuzzle with each other. I do wish they shared a pasture together - they are quite friendly with each other.
I am, of course, always looking for something to take a picture of. During a break from taking pictures of Snipes and Dublin, I found a nice thistle to focus on.
Then some asters by one of the loafing sheds.
On Sunday, Jim and I went to dinner with his parents (thank you!) and during dinner he mentioned that he and I were going to go to the roof of his office building to watch the fireworks. His Mom was excited about the idea and asked if they could come too. We all had a blast watching the show from one of the tallest buildings in Manassas, even though there were some malfunctions of the fireworks (it all turned out fantastic in the end).
Last year I wanted to go for a drive along Skyline Drive in Shenandoah National Park for my birthday. Jim and I had such a good time last year with the convertible drive and picnic that we did it again this year. Instead of our normal northern route, we decided to go South from Luray and hit a different part of the Park. I have a bunch of pictures, so here's just a little taste!
So, along comes Tuesday. And it's HOT - like 100 F hot. So was Wednesday, although it was more like 102 F and my toes were burning up inside my steel-toed boots. I did, however, catch a plane flying really low on it's descent to Dulles.
And this leaves us with Thursday (today). Yet another hot and humid day... This afternoon I watched a thunderhead form right above where were were drilling. Thankfully we were just about done for the day and were preparing to clean up and leave. Wish the thunderhead would have produced rain to go with the thunder, though. And proof I WAS working - you can see the mast of the rig in this picture.
But this one, without the mast, is much neater!
:)
