Sunday Hike

I've always loved a nice walk in the woods – I call them hikes, but in all honesty, they are just simple walks. When I was a teenager, these consisted of us taking Buford to the woods and dragging him along as he excitedly sniffed along every inch and peed on every other twig or bush. When we lived in Germany, Momma and Poppa and I were constantly going on “volksmarches” - literally “people-walks”. Where you and tons of other people would walk along a specified trail spaced with refreshments every so often. At the end of the walk, you could get a patch or plaque or something to celebrate the victory of accomplishing the walk. I love that my parents instilled in me at such a very young age, the love of walking outdoors.

I still carry on this love. Nothing makes me happier than a walk in the woods – although I will admit that a ride on Sniper through the woods is the icing on the cake. Momma and I used to frequently take walks on the weeknds, but since the boyfriend and the new house, we've not done this together for a long time. Jim and I frequently go on our “Sunday Hikes” though. I absolutely love them!

This past Sunday, Jim and I were unable to take our walk together as we had planned, so Momma suggested that she and I go. And go we did. The place we hiked is a nature conservancy area off Route 66 called the Bull Run Nature Conservancy. We've hiked there once before and really enjoyed the park. This time was no different!

Pretty little feather in our path.

Thank You, Momma! It was so nice to spend some 'non-house' time together this weekend!
